Estonian legal system is a Continental law system. The system is based on Roman Law and Court decisions are not source of law. The sourse of law is written, enacted by the Parliament (Riigikogu, home page: www.riigikogu.ee).

Estonian legal system has influences from many countries in Europe, but main influence comes from Germany.

Law is devided into 2 main categories: private and public law.
Private law is for example obligation law, family law, property law etc.
Ppublic law for example tax law, administrative law, procedural law, criminal
law etc.
